Which water bottle will you choose?

•  You've made the switch. No more buying plastic bottles from the supermarket or deliveries of 5 gallon water bottles. Having a fresh h2o water cooler and a reusable water bottle makes staying hydrated easy, cut down on disposable plastic use and offers a way to make a fashion or lifestyle statement. Generally, reusable water bottles come in glass, plastic or metal. Which will you choose?

Here are some of the pros and cons...

Glass: Probably gets the cleanest and is free from chemicals, but breakable and often heavier to carry.

• Plastic: Definitely the easiest to bring with you, but you have to be sure the plastic is free from BPA and other harsh chemicals. Since we don't know what chemicals are in the plastic, it's best to hand wash your reusable plastic bottles. The combination of the high heat and detergent in a dish washer can score the plastic. Here's a rule: If you can't put it in the microwave, don't put it in the dishwasher. 

Metal: You'll probably see aluminum and stainless steel, but be sure your metal bottle isn't lined with plastic. There could be a slight transfer of aluminum into your water. 

No matter what choose what feels right to you. Not everything is 100% safe but generally glass or metal could be deemed safer than plastic. Make sure you wash your bottles well and keep the caps off when air drying so no water remains inside that can grow mold. Cheers!
